Valentine’s Day Treats

February 13, 2014 By Lauren Leave a Comment

Today is Galentine’s Day which is a fabulous day created by the show Parks and Rec. Galentine’s Day is February 13th and its a day where ladies celebrate ladies. Leslie Knope prefers to kick it breakfast style with her waffles but there are plenty of ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day.

So if you are looking for a delicious Galentines or Valentines day food, do not fret. I have pulled together a collection of my favorite.

A festive breakfast would of course consist of red pancakes! Bonus points if they are heart shaped. Have you tried the trip where you use a cookie cutter on the pan to get perfectly shaped pancakes?

Or an adorable heart-shaped gashouse egg would be the perfect way to start your morning. I recommend using a cookie cutter.

Heart Toast

From Reclaiming Provincial

This is one of my favorite desserts! My Grandma has made it a few times so I was excited to see it circling the internet. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and salty.

Even a simple cake makes any day festive. Here is a simple trick for making a heart shaped cake.

Basically anything made with red velvet is festive. Cookies, cake, brownies. Make it heart shaped and bam. Valentines.

For some reason this recipe doesn’t include vodka or anything. I suggest you change that. Add vodka.

Such a festive drink. But again, no alcohol in this. You should probably add some. Baileys? Irish Cream?

Of course, all festive food doesn’t have to be dessert. These potatoes look amazing!

After all this dessert and alcohol talk I feel like I need to throw something healthy in. Look at these adorable carrots. (PS I probably will make something covered in frosting and chocolate, and sprinkles so don’t feel bad if carrots are not on your Valentine’s Day menu.)

In summary, if have a heart shaped cookie cutter, can draw a heart, or have red food coloring  you are pretty much set.

What do you have planned for Galentines or Valentines Day? Are you making anything festive and fun this year?
