Our kitchen was bare, I mean really bare! That can only mean one thing. Art time! I bought a couple large canvases and sticking with the kitchen theme I decided to collage teapots on them. At first I was planning on using newspaper. When you really need newspaper it’s no where to be found. I’m pretty sure a couple of my journalism professors want to revoke my journalism degree for not being able to find a newspaper. Luckily, my mom had an old cookbook she was willing to part with. It ended up being perfect! The pages were a little brown so I didn’t have to color them or anything. Plus recipes is even more perfect for the kitchen than newspapers. After cutting the recipes out individually I used Modge Podge to glue them on the canvas. I found images online of teacups I liked and traced them onto paper. (Perks of having a large screen). An overhead projector is also an awesome tool to use when you need to trace things. Those are not as easy to find as a screen but necessary when you need to trace a large object. I found scrapbooking paper that I liked in different colors, cut it into pieces and collaged it together for the teapots. I added one more layer of Modge Podge so it would be sealed and shiny. They are a perfect addition to our kitchen. And I love that I made them instead of buying them.
