Instagram Coasters

Instagram Coasters

So many of my photos these days never get printed. You don’t automatically get doubles of every photo you take. These days they are snapped with your phone and shared on Instagram or Facebook. But then what? They sit on your phone and are soon forgotten. When I am feeling nostalgic, I will flip through my old photos on Instagram or Facebook but rarely do I actually print them.

So if you are anything like me you will love actually printing your photos and using them!

There are a couple different ways of getting your photos off of Instagram. Of course, they don’t make it easy for you to avoid others stealing your photos. If you have an iPhone, your photos might be saved to a separate folder in your images. Check there first.

instacamerarollIf they are not there,  you can use Instaport and download all your images. This is what I used and it was great.

DIY Coasters

Need:
– 4×4 tiles
– Felt pads
– Mod Podge
– Brush
– Printed photos on basic white paper

Coaster InstructionsI printed my photos at 4×4 inches. The tiles I have are slightly larger and start to curve on the sides. You can make your photos a little smaller if you want a larger border. I printed my photos from my home printed on basic white paper, nothing fancy.

Using your brush, paint a thin layer of mod podge directly onto the tile. Lay your photo down flat and press out any bubbles. Let it sit a few minutes before applying your top coat.

Photo coasterAdd two or three layers of mod podge over the photo and tile. You will see brush strokes so stick with one direction.

Photo coasterWatch for air bubbles when you are painting and clean them up before it dries. Wait 15-20 minutes between coats. Let it completely dry before using.

Coaster bottomIf your tile did not come with felt pads, add the felt pads to the bottom to avoid scratching your table. You can glue a solid piece of felt to the bottom if you don’t have pads as well.

I love the idea of making them coasters so you don’t forget about them and can continue to show off those great shots that jog a great memory!

Thanks! We always need more ways to show-off our own photos and memories.

Thank you for this great idea! I’ve been looking for more ways to use my photos and this is a great idea for cute Christmas stocking stuffers.
