Fabric Flowers

October 17, 2014 By Lauren 2 Comments

One of the main reasons I have taken up so many crafting habits and why I continue to make things is because I can’t sit still while watching TV. I have to be doing something with my hands. I know, stop watching TV and you won’t have a problem. But have you seen what is on Netflix lately. IT’S SO GOOD. I CAN’T STOP. But if I don’t have a project in my hands than I grab my phone and spend way too much time perusing Facebook and Instagram or playing Dots. Even when I was younger I had this problem. I remember complaining to my mom in elementary school on days that we would watch a movie in class. I know, what kid complains about watching movies! But I had a hard time sitting still.

Now with so many good TV shows on Netflix and HBO, I like watching a show in the evenings. Now I make sure I have something to work on while I am watching so I don’t end up on my phone. I guess it has resulted in this blog. So that is a good thing 🙂 These flowers are one of the many things that came out of a good ‘ol Netflix binge. I decided to play around with some scrap fabric and burlap and see what came out of it. I gotta say, I am pretty happy with how these fabric flowers came out! They are very simple to make and all you need is hot glue and strips of fabric.

I used Crafting Mom’s Burlap flower tutorial to get the general idea and then tried it out with burlap and fabric. Super easy and super cute!

I added a pin to the back of a couple flowers which look awesome when pinned to a scarf or jacket.

And finally I decided to add a few to a headband.

Originally I was going to add them to a frayed piece of fabric so it looked unfinished and raw. But ultimately decided to just finish the ends and even add elastic to make it a real headband. I might go back and make another out of an old strip. I think the raw look could be really cool! As long as it doesn’t fray too much.

Didn’t you also watch TV upside down, as something else to do?
