Round-Up of Tequila Cocktails to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

May 3, 2014 By Lauren 2 Comments

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I have collected a bunch of tequila cocktail recipes that look amazing. I didn’t include a regular margarita because that is boring and I figure everyone has a favorite recipe by now. I have not tried these yet so I cannot tell you if they are actually as good as they look.

For my birthday this year, we did a little bit of tequila tasting at a local bar. It was so much fun! It was really interesting to see the difference in smell and taste in 4 tequilas. Now it’s time to start cocktailing and try out a few of these recipes.

Raspberry Lime Tequila

Add a little mint to this and you have a delicious summer drink.

Cucumber Margarita

I tried a cucumber margarita at McMinnimins and it was delicious! The cucumber makes it even more refreshing and clean.

 Chocolate Margarita

Mexican chocolate is one of my favorite things. Add tequila to it – even better. chocolate-margarita-026-1-685x1024

Strawberry Jalapeno

Often times I stay away from spicy cocktails. But this one only uses a little bit of jalapeno which would be perfect. Maybe have a cucumber margarita also to cool down the spice?IMG_1485

Creamy Margarita Popsicles

I wish I was having a Cinco de Mayo party because these would for sure be served. I think I will keep them in mind for a summer party. margaritapop

Paloma Cocktail

This looks like a perfect summer drink. It is a little bit sweet but is mostly grapefruit and club soda.  A few summers ago, we were making grapefruit soda and vodka drinks. They were delicious! Substituting the vodka for tequila would be a nice alternative. MG_9171-copy

 Tequila Thyme Lemonade

I love the earthy cocktail trend – basil, thyme, rosemary, lavender. It makes it so clean and refreshing! And such a nice break from all the sweet drinks. mld106891_0311_drinkfripad3_vert

 Tamarindo y Tequila

When I was in Loreto, Mexico a year ago tamarind was extremely popular especially in candy. It’s a little sweet and a little sour and definitely an acquired taste. I ate it a lot during that week never completely sure if I actually liked it or not. But now I really want to try it in a cocktail. It probably be pretty delicious as a drink with the sweet and sour mixture.

 Tequila Smash

There are blueberries in this one. Hello oxidants. So it’s healthy right? I’m sold.
