This was our amazing, spunky teacher for the afternoon. At the end of the session, she was our model and we had to boss her around.
This beautiful necklace is from Favery. They were kind enough to let us borrow it for the shoot.
These guys were too cute so we had to get the “couple photo”
Earlier this month, I joined about 40 local bloggers in a photography workshop put on by Portland Bloggers. Portland Bloggers is a local organizations that aims to bring education, resources, networking, and celebration to bloggers in the area. This is the second event I attended and it was a blast! It is so fun meeting and talking with other bloggers. I have already learned so much from these ladies and gentlemen. They are all so extremely talented and inspiring.
This month’s meet-up was a photography workshop at the studios of Favery and Elli in the Pearl District. They have an incredible space that was perfect for a bunch of photogs and bloggers. Linnea of Linnea Paulina Photography, Margaret Jacobsen of Margaret Jacobsen Photography, and Aubrie LeGault of Aubriele Gault photography were our teachers for the afternoon and they did a fabulous job.
We broke into two different groups depending on our interests: fashion and jewelry or close-up and food. I chose to go with the fashion and jewelry crowd because styling is something I need to work on and it was the smaller group. We headed outside to photograph each other. While it was a little awkward to model for everyone else, I did learn a few good modeling tips.
After the break-out session, we had a chance to ask the photographer panel some questions. They talked about the equipment they use, how they got started, changing perspective, tips on different styles and so much more. It was great to be able to hear about their experiences and their life as a professional photographer.
Since that workshop, I have been trying to pay attention to the photography on my blog. Too many times I have snapped a quick photo just to get the post up. Either the white balance is way off or I didn’t take time to photograph it during the day when the light was better. The more I am blogging the more I am realizing that a quick shot is just not going to cut it. I need to slow down, plan ahead, and focus more on the photos on this blog.
