Last weekend we honored and celebrated a very special man: My grandfather, Papa. Papa passed away in January but we decided to wait until the weather was nice so we could have the celebration outdoors at his house. We settled on April 20th and it was a beautiful day. About 100 friends and family members gathered at Papa’s house to join together and tell stories. A family friend BBQ’d pulled pork for sandwiches and we had orange blossoms to drink, which were a signature drink of Papa’s.
I wanted to contribute to the celebration and memory of Papa in some way. Many times, people will create a tri-fold for the honoree but I wanted to do something a little different. Inspired by Papa’s love of reading, I created bookmarks with words to describe him on one side, and photos on the other. I think they fit Papa perfectly. I hope from now on anytime someone opens a book they will think of him.

That was beautiful, Lauren. It was said just right.
